SHATRUNJAY MAHA TIRTH

Palitana Temple is one of the remarkable temples of Jainism, located on Mount Shatrunjaya, in Bhavnagar. Shatrunjay contains hundreds of Palitana temples. On the hills there are approximately 863 marble-carved temples. It is also considered the holiest of all pilgrimage places by the Jain community. No one is allowed to stay overnight in the temple, including the priests, It is also believed that once a visit to this group of temples is also important in a life time to achieve nirvana or salvation.

The tirtha is situated at a distance of one mile from Datha road. Mulanayaka Bhagavan Shantinath reigns in the peak-temple over there. Here are also installed fourteen images of stone and eight of metal, The local Sangha got constructed a temple and ceremoniously got installed the idol of Shri Shantinath Bhagavan in V.S. 1905, An Inscription of V.S. is 1892 is registered on the idol, it is extremely exquisite and very happy to view. The temple, with lofty construction is a temple of glass and the glass-work is rarely beautiful and attractive to the eyes, Datha is on the road leading to Mahuva from Talaja and has facility of an inn, a canteen and an Upashraya.

AYODHYAPURAM JAIN TIRTH

The temple of Shri Ayodhyapuram Teerth houses the idol of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev, The Swetambara temple has been magnificently decorated with intricate artistic designs. The creative temple work boast about the skills of the craftsmen. The walls and pillars of the temple are adorned with specimens of ancient art, The Garbhagriha of the temple that houses the 23 feet big idol is very big. It is 28.5 feet wide and 55 feet tall. The temple is 169 feet long, 114 feet wide and 108 feet tall, A gaushala housing many cows can also be seen here. The idol of the Lord is 23 twenty three feet in height and is white in colour. It is seated in a padmasana posture. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks

KADAMGIRI JAIN TIRTH

BHAVNAGAR Shri Kadam giri Jain Tirth The great Shatrunjaya tirtha has five tirthas of which one is the age-old Kadambagiri tirtha. It is one of the tirthas in the 18 miles circumambulation of the Shatrunjaya mountain. It is said that the Ganadhara of the second Tirthankara, Shri Kadamba attained to emancipation – NIRVANA- along with so many munis. The mountain is known as Kadambagiri. It is known as Siddhakshetra because so many munis attained NIRVANA here.

HASTGIRI JAIN TIRTH

Hastagiri Jain Tirth is a famous Gurdwara. Hastagiri Jain Tirth, is located on a hill on the bank of the Shetrunjaya. Bhagwan Rishabh Dev is the principal deity in this tirth. Hastisengiri is another name for this hill. King Bharat of Bhagwan Adishwar established this Tirth. The Foot image of Bhagwan can be seen in a small shrine in this place. The eldest son of Bhagwan Adishwar, King Bharat attained salvation from here as per the divine instruction of Acharya Vijayramachandara Suriswar Maharaj and Acharya Mahatunga
Suriswar Maharaj. King Bharath observed fast into death and attained the holy adobe (Swarga). The elephant of the King also followed him.

TALAJA JAIN TEMPLE

This Indian temple was established by King Kumarpal during the 12th century. This is a holy place of the Shri Shatrunjay Panchteerthi and is part of the Shtrujay hills.All the 32 caves have been constructed without pillars. Such caves are unique. The Prabhu idol was associated with many miracles and with the effect of its appearance, the complete area was relieved from disease during that period. Since then the idol is called as Sacha Sumatinath.The Prabhu idol was established after the last renovation of the temple and an akhand jyoti has been lit.In the early days, it was considered as the Shri Shatrunjay Mahateerth.It is described in the inscriptions found at Teemada village .This Indian temple is under the control of the Shri Taladhwaj Jain Shwetambar Teerth Committee.

GHOGHA JAIN TIRTH

As per the history available, the Muslim ruler and their soldiers damaged the moolnayak idol along with other temples and idols. Idol was broken into nine pieces. Jain shravaks kept these pieces in Lapsi, following orders from the Adhishthayak Dev in disguised, the idol again joined, but the markings remained on it. Since then this idol is called as Navkhanda Parshwanath Bhagwan. Akhand jyoti is still lighting since ancient period.

This is the birth place of His Holiness DadashriJinadattasurishvarji and the holly land of initiation (diksha) of Upadhyay Dharmadevji, There are evidences to show that many temples were built and many religious activities were done here in the twelfth century of the Vikram era, Under the inspiration of His Holiness Acharyadev Vijayrajendrasurisvarji auspices of Kanaksurisvarji, this 2200 years old idol was installed in this vast, high multi-stepped temple, comparable to God’s residence, on the third day of the bright half of the month of Fagum in the year 2038 of the Vikram era. Dadavadi of ShriJinadattasurishvarji, the great Acharya of Khartargachchha, is in front of this temple.
On the land of one lakh of square ft. near this temple, there is Mini-Shetrunjaya temple. It reminds one of the 45 ft. high artificial hill. The city of temples is built on the land of 25000 square ft. With ‘JalTaleti’, ‘BabunaDera’.temple of BhagawanShantinath’, ‘Dada’s Tank’, ‘Nava tunk’, ‘GetinaPaga’, the foot of the hill etc., this mini-shetrunjaya looks beautiful like the actual sacred place of Shetrunjaya.
